For over 200 years, GVZ has been insuring all buildings in the canton of Zurich against fire and natural hazards and is committed to protecting people and property through prevention. In accordance with its legal mandate, it works with local authorities to provide preventive fire protection and is responsible for the strategic management, training, equipment, and alerting of municipal fire departments. The GVZ is an independent public company and employs around 140 full-time and 250 part-time staff.
